[Game On] Gears of War 4v4 Tournament - Saturday 10th February - Registration Thread

Pump your shoguns and rev your chainsaws, for Game On will be holding their first Gears of War tournament. Grab a team of 4 and put your team details down in this thread. There is an 8 team maximum, so first in best dressed.

When: Saturday 10th February, 3pm-8pm
Where: Game On Interactive, Miranda (Sydney)
Entry Cost: $20 per person
Format: Gears of War 4v4 Tournament
Equipment: All equipment (TVs, xboxes, controllers, games) are provided. Bringing your own controllers is OK, so long as it is clearly marked as being your property.
Prizes: Each member of the winning team will win a Game On and SpectreWorld Prize pack, which includes an Xbox 360 game, Xbox 360 Faceplate, Logitech Headphones and Microsoft Shirt.

A HUGE THANKS to SpectreWorld and Microsoft for organising some of the prizes. Remember, "Everything's Cheaper at SpectreWorld"

Please dicuss with your team FIRST before registering. Please do not register if you are unsure if your team is all available to come. Please post up your team name and the each member's name.

Registrations starts at 2:30pm, with the tournament beginning at 3pm sharp. The tournament will finish by 8pm. Those attending can play till close at no extra cost.

If you want to play but can't find a teammate, don't despair! Post your details in this thread, and we'll match you up with other players.

Mode: Execution only
Weapons Swapped: No (default weapons)
Friendly Fire: Off
Execution Time: 10 seconds
Round time: 3 mins
# Rounds per match: first to 6 wins
Points System:
- Win: 3 points
- Loss: 0 points
Bonus point is awarded for a clean sweep victory (i.e. 6-0 win)

Double Elimination

Game1 - War Machine:
1 v 2 (Winner proceeds into Finals; Loser proceeds into Game3)

3 v 4 (Winner proceeds into Game3; Loser eliminated)

Game3 - Rooftops:
Loser of Game1 v Winner of Game2 (Winner proceeds into Finals; Loser eliminated)

Finals

Finals* - Canals:

* The same rules will apply for finals, but the # rounds per match is first to 11

The competition starts strictly at 3pm. Estimated finishing time: 8:30pm.

Location Details

Where: Game On Interactive
Address: Shop 1, 591, The Kingsway Miranda (Sutherland Shire area)
(near Westfield Shoppingtown Miranda, opposite Carmens Nightclub)
Public Transport:

Refer to the Cityrail website for the Train Timetable.

1) Make your way to Town Hall, Central, or Redfern Train Stations
2) You'll have to catch a train that is on the 'Illawarra' line (marked blue on the city rail map)
3) The train to catch is marked as a 'Cronulla' Train. Catch this train ONLY. DO NOT catch a train marked Waterfall or Dapto.
4) Once on the train, get off at 'Miranda' train station. It is about a 45 minute ride from Central station.

Walking from Miranda Station:
Once you are out of the station, walk up Kiora Road. You should be passing Westfield Shoppingtown. At the first big intersection, take a LEFT onto 'The Kingsway'. Then cross the road so you are on the opposite side to where the Westfield is located. You should be able to see Game On Interactive from there. It is opposite Carmens Nightclub (grey/dark blue building. Also has a big "Miranda Hotel" sign on it now).

Put me down as a Mercenary for hire, as I don't have a team organised nor do I know anyone who plays Gears of War (Console gamer friends with computer gamers).

Oh man

we need something this good in melbourne. Id be there in a flash.
I like the rule layout to with the exsecution and no escalation.
Although friendly fire adds some seriously dangerous gameplay.

Hey Doddus, thanks for the positive feedback.

With friendly fire, because most people have it off when they play online, I just figured that the tournament should be the same.
