Appearing on the marketplace for free a few months ago was Electronic Arts and Hasbro's Family Game Night. Family Game Night is a platform that allows you to play digitized versions of many of your favourite Hasbro games. Whilst the Family game Night download is free, the included games are only trials unless you purchase them off the Xbox Live Marketplace.
The Latest game to be released for Family Game night is the classis Sorry! Returning once again as host (as with other games from this collection) is the likeable Mr Potato head who really adds to the presentation of the game. To begin a game of Sorry! you are allocated 4 pawns and some cards which control movement (no dice in this game) The goal of a Sorry! game is to move your 4 pawns from the start point to the home base which involves a one way trip around the board. This may sound quite simply and even boring but there is a catch to the game. Should your pawn land on an occupied square your opponents pawn will be sent back to the starting location, hence why the game is called Sorry!
The one thing a board game version of Sorry has over this digital entry is the way it is controlled. Honestly the developers didn't put much thought into this area as the controls are simply clunky. First you need to select a pawn before viewing your cards to see which one you would like to select. Then you move your pawn selecting the required card from your hand to determine the moves your pawn has made. With an electronic version of the game it would have been so much better to simply select a movement card and then have the pawn move automatically. Sure it would take away some of the gameplay element but really who wants to move a pawn around the board. It's like playing electronic uno and having to use the left thumbstick to drag your card to the centre pile, pointless!
