One concern is that Ninja Blade at times can be quite a buggy experience. Minor bugs include collision detection errors that can appear when fighting enemies where your sword will pass through an enemy yet not count as a hit. There are also moments where you may jump onto an object or a ledge yet Ken will pass through the object. The worst bug I personally saw was at the end of the first level. Once I reached a certain point at the end of the level, a cutscene was meant to trigger but this did not occur leaving Ken to be stuck within a confined area with nothing happening. Restarting from the last checkpoint did not help with the level still not progressing. The only option was the restart the level from the start as the save last checkpoint was bugged out. Sure it only required a replay of the first level but considering I had learnt the game then was required to redo the compulsory tutorial section it was a real buzzkill.

From software managed to create a control system that is very solid. It is quite easy to tie attacks together to perform combos, which is great as the game does not have a steep learning curve. The AI in Ninja Blade is a real mixed bag. Whilst fights with some enemies are fun, others are tiresome as enemies crowd around you waiting for their opportunity to attack. Kens arsenal of swords and throwing stars mixed with his martial art finesse guarantees most enemies are quickly taken care of in the manner of your choosing. The main problem with the combat is that there is no real motivator to bother learning the harder combos as most enemies can be defeated with the easiest attacks. It would have been nice to see enemies adapting to your common attack style making for more varied gameplay. There are also some sections where Ken can mount a minigun which does help break up which can be sometime monotonous gameplay, however these moments just done seem fun. For those sections that do require extra combat assistance, Ken has access to an ability called Ninja Vision which is another version of Bullet time. In addition to slowing down time, Ninja Vision also gives hints on what to do next if you get stuck.
