From software managed to create a control system that is very solid. It is quite easy to tie attacks together to perform combos, which is great as the game does not have a steep learning curve. The AI in Ninja Blade is a real mixed bag. Whilst fights with some enemies are fun, others are tiresome as enemies crowd around you waiting for their opportunity to attack. Kens arsenal of swords and throwing stars mixed with his martial art finesse guarantees most enemies are quickly taken care of in the manner of your choosing. The main problem with the combat is that there is no real motivator to bother learning the harder combos as most enemies can be defeated with the easiest attacks. It would have been nice to see enemies adapting to your common attack style making for more varied gameplay. There are also some sections where Ken can mount a minigun which does help break up which can be sometime monotonous gameplay, however these moments just done seem fun. For those sections that do require extra combat assistance, Ken has access to an ability called Ninja Vision which is another version of Bullet time. In addition to slowing down time, Ninja Vision also gives hints on what to do next if you get stuck.
