It has been almost 2 years since the world was graced by Halo 3 and the time has come again for Halo to consume our weeks and light up our nights. Halo 3 ODST, which stands for Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, is set in New Mombasa and in the Halo time line set slightly after Halo 2’s beginning and before the original Halo 3 kick started.

Stepping away from the Halo character line, ODST puts you in control of a rookie ODST character in search of his fellow squad members after a slipspace by an evading covenant cruiser causing the dropping ODST pods to be thrown dramatically off course.

ODST plants you in the middle of destroyed New Mombasa 6 hours after the initial drop. After waking up 6 hours after the drop, darkness has covered this destroyed and covenant infected city. This leaves you alone and without any contact to your comrades.

ODST has done an excellent job pushing the feeling of being completely alone due to the constantly dark environment with no help or support. The first stage of the game, while playing as the rookie, is a very dark and lonely section of the game while searching through the city. The great album which accompanies ODST helps push the fact of being alone with no slither of help available to you. Although a great feature of the game, it can at times become slightly frustrating when searching around some parts of the map due to the absolute lack of lighting and visibility.
