Once a mission has been completed you will be taken back to Isenstadt. Whilst the Isenstadt hub is not linear it’s not a large open world with lots to do. Often you will come across enemy encampments where the enemies respawn quite quickly which can get annoying. You also have a compass which always shows you where to travel and once you have explored Isenstadt once you probably won’t bother, putting preference on travelling from one level to the next or the occasional trip to a factions weapons dealer. Once at a weapons dealer you have the option to acquire new weapons, upgrade weapons or restock ammunition, however the key is that you will only earn a certain amount of money from missions and should be picky about what weapons and upgrades you buy.

Also as you progress through the game you also acquire a Black Sun artefact that opens up powers for you to use against the Nazi’s. The most useful power is one that has a bullet time effect slowing time with the next best power being the shield. Each power when used does drain a meter which can be filled from Veil pools. Multiple powers can be used at the same time but do drain power at a much quicker rate. Once the artefact has been acquired you can also enter the games Veil Sight. When changing to Veil Sight a cool effect occurs across the screen and once in it enemies become highlighted making them easier to spot. In this mode shortcuts or hidden areas can be found as some walls that exist within the game may not exist in veil mode meaning you can pass by them, just don’t leave veil mode whilst passing through a wall to avoid an unwanted death. In veil mode you will also see some veil monsters flying around. From time to time these will attack you but unless provoked they usually leave you alone.

The most typical enemies in the game are your stock standard infantry but as the game progresses you will run into SS and heavy troopers, Female Assassins and even veil enhanced troopers that can turn invisible along with shooting orbs. The good news is that each enemy is susceptible to a certain weapon or veil power so figuring out which once is the best for each enemy in the game can assist in the long run once reaching the harder levels.
