The DOA franchise seems to be pushing in all directions with the recent release of the b-grade DOA movie (starring Holly Valance no less) and the launch of DOAX2. The sequel to DOAX Beach Volley ball looks like it’s missing a Lipton’s logo ‘cause everybody’s jiggling this time around! This cyber-silicone-sequel takes advantage of next gen grunt in delivering nothing short of video game voyeurism. But once you’ve reacquainted yourself with the “new” Zack Island and deleted all your Live “pervert!” messages (I’m not kidding either), you’ll find the additions to this game are about as thin as its bikini’s. Fortunately for Team Ninja it remains a strangely addictive game and the plastic surgery is certainly appreciated.

The basic concept for DOAX2 (as with its predecessor) is to holiday on Zack’s Island and make enough money to buy loads of Bikini’s. You have 14 days in which to befriend another fine DOA lass and keep her happy enough to want to remain your volleyball team-mate. Volleyball remains the core focus of the game although a few smaller games and additional tweaks have been introduced to the mix – more on this later.
The manual included with the game is a generous 53 pages and covers absolutely everything you need to know, including a one page profile per character. This comes in handy as you need to know what each girl likes in order to befriend or sustain a friendship. You typically team up with Lisa to begin with, and can easily check to see her favourite colour is crimson red, and she loves cherry pie & surfing. Keep these in mind when shopping for her at the Sport Shop (bikini’s & Jet Skis), Accessory Shop (accessories such as hats, sunglasses etc) or Zack of All Trades (miscellaneous goods).
