Infinity Ward returns with the sequel to the game of the year, this time though we see World War II Xbox 360 style. Call of Duty 2 takes you on the journey of struggle, mateship and chaos like never before as you fight along side your fellow soldiers for the hope of peace and the chance to see another day.

Call of duty 2 successfully depicts World War II through the eyes of the Russians, British and the Americans as you relive the intensity and struggle of the wars most climatic battles. There are 27 missions in total each depicting significant chapter of World War II, you battle along side your fellow soldiers at all times through the thick snow of Russia, the sands of time in Egypt, the war torn towns of Libya, the cliffs of France and the forests of Germany. Each level graphically sets the scene and mood for each battle along with high quality weather effects (rain, fog, snow) and dynamic lighting you feel like you are actually inside the devils playground.

In addition to a graphically beautiful experience the game play also feels spot on. The controls don’t differ much from your most common first person shooters which lead to easy pick up and play value, though how you play through each level is different from any game I have experienced to date. Every man next to you acts as your radar, letting you know where the enemies are coming from, where the snipers are situated, if there are tanks heading your way. If you ignore your fellow soldiers and try and run and gun your way through the levels with out them you tend not to last very long and you deserve not to. In addition to this highly advanced chatter system serving as your extra eyes and ears it also adds to the atmosphere of the war, the intensity is created from every cry of your fellow soldiers giving you the sense of fighting along side a ‘band of brothers’ rather than just advanced AI. This is also highlighted when you look at a friend or foe you notice each have their own identity, rank and role such as sniper, rifleman or grenadier.

Infinity Ward successfully pushed the Xbox 360 to its limit not only with highly detailed character models, vehicles and buildings but with the amount of action that is in fact happening at once along with the number of soldiers that are on the screen at the same time. There will be situations where you will notice over 20 Russians charging at you at one time along with planes flying over and tanks shooting at you. Again this adds another layer to the intensity of war forcing you to take cover, take out a few men and then advance to another cover spot all whilst trying not to get shot.
