Everyone’s favourite neighbourhood Spiderman makes his return to the Xbox 360 console where you are in total control. Like previous games you are set in a free-roaming New York City slightly improved this time giving a more realistic feel though this is no Grand Theft Auto.
Like every free roaming game there comes a point where the evil side of you just wants to cause as much destruction as you can, well with Spiderman 3 you can’t do this. There is little to no interaction with civilians who seems to ignore you even exist, you can’t even web them up. It would have been great to have enabled this when you unlock the black suit, just to show Spiderman’s evil side but it doesn’t happen.
Okay so you can’t cause havoc in New York City, don’t let this turn you off from enjoying the game, you’re Spiderman! There is nothing better then the feeling of being able to go where you want whenever you want. If you can see it you can climb it; if you can climb it, you can jump off it; from the smallest of light poles to the tallest of skyscrapers. Using Spiderman’s trade mark web slinging ability which is activated using the right trigger and steered with the left thumb stick, driving becomes a thing of the past and making your travels from one slide of New York to the other a breeze, well almost. The camera following Spides is deadest irritating at times, as it is rarely ever in the right spot especially during combat and climbing up structures.
