With every classic superhero Movie follows a game with the same title. More often the game is relatively simple, short and leaves you wondering if your superheroes are really that super. Fantastic 4 the Rise of the Silver Surfer is no different, sure it tells the story of the movie like you would expect, sure you can control all of the characters and even play four player co-op but the game does not give you much for you to want to pick this title up again once completed.

Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer is a third person squad-based beat-em up. As you would expect is based on the movie with the same title unravelling the mystery of the silver surfer and ridding the world of Dr Doom whom is more powerful and threatening to the world than ever before. You can of course control any one of the fantastic four characters during each of the 17 missions which are divided into 7 chapters and contain a unique boss you have to defeat using all of the fantastic four powers.

The level design is pretty basic and becomes relativity repetitive. The levels are very linear and involve you basically beating up a few bad guys, opening numerous doors, some of which may require the individual powers of the fellow fantastic four members from which you can switch to at any time using the d-pad. Though as you will come to notice each level is the same the only difference is the look of the level and the enemies you come across. During each of the chapters you face a boss whom itself is pretty easy, requiring the use of the fantastic four powers depending on the boss and their weaknesses. Once you have worked out the pattern for the bosses who aren’t too difficult, even on the hardest difficulty the bosses will just seem like easy achievement points to add to your tally.

Another thing making the game relatively easy is the fact that you never really die, unless all your characters are knocked out. So through out the game when you are down to one character you can just hide until all your characters wake up again then continue your battle. In some ways this is great so that you do not have to start again which would make the game pretty frustrating and boring though would add some difficulty to the game if you have to use the remaining character for the rest of the level.
