The Transformers hits the big screen leaving nothing but positive reactions it only seems fitting with all great action movies to release a game with the same title to continue the excitement and cash in on the hype! The Transformers franchise is no different with the release of Transformers – The Game you take control of your favourite and many new Transformers from the beloved Auto bots to the devious Decepticons. Though does the game provide enough action and excitement much like the film?
Transformers – The Game for the Xbox 360 is based on the film though does not giveaway too much. If anything it is the perfect prelude to the movie to give you and idea on what the movies is about as well as introducing many of the Transformers. You have the choice whether to take part as an Autobot or Decepticon where you are treated with two different points of views, the good and the bad! Basically the battle of the Transformers continues on earth as the All Spark; a powerful cube which is responsible for creating and sustaining the Transformers race has been found on earth. If the All Spark is found in the wrong hands namely the Decepticons then they will hold the key to ruling the Universe and its potential destruction.

Once you have chosen your side you are treated to a cut scene explaining the chapter and your mission. You are then dropped into a free roaming world, well a medium sized town on Earth, from where you have to complete five or so missions before you move on to the next chapter. Once completing a story based mission the next mission is unlocked and can be replayed at anytime. The missions are relatively short and not very difficult, they consist of mainly smashing and bashing your way through your foes depending on which campaign you choose, collecting items, following or chasing a fugitive and completing relatively easy objectives. You can also choose to partake in four or so additional challenges in order to unlock the secrets in the game as well as achieve 100% completion for that level.
Though the missions are quite short they are incredibly fun due to the fact the game play mechanics are relatively simple and easy to pick up and play; basically everything is destructible which just makes the missions ten times more enjoyable. To strike you just use the X button you can also perform a three punch combo by mash the X button three times. You can also shoot by pressing the right trigger which is usually your light gunner and you can also shot your more powerful yet slow weapon by pressing the right bumper. Throughout the game you will tend to rely on using your strike button to take out anything on the land due to the fact the three punch combo is really destructive and waist away enemies relatively easy.
During combat though the one big enemy is the camera angles which you get stuck in during battle. While in battle the camera tends to move around a lot especially when you’re trying to fight off numerous enemies at once and never really sits in the right place. This tends to be a problem with most third-person games though with how the games combat is structured in small cities the camera tends to get caught up looking at buildings very often especially in tight situations. This gets rather frustrating at times and often leaves you wanting to put the game just to let your eyes rest from all the camera movement.
