Grab your M1 Garand, or your Thompson for that matter……..Because its time to go to “War”.
OOOOpppps, Wrong War. Fast forward 60 years & we're thrust into the midst of battle against a fictional barren wasteland of sand, fighting a bunch of rag-tag insurgents.
Gone are the days of fighting the Nazi War machine, as Infinity Ward thrusts us head first into the 21st century. Now we have a huge arsenal of weapons to choose from, ranging from the solid & reliable M16 & all the way up to the Javelin portable missile system. To add a little nostalgia to the game IW has thrown in the MP44, whilst it was a late inclusion to the “theatre” of 1944, it was way ahead of its time. It’s what the AK 47 is based on, the weapon of choice for insurgents & is also available for use. Ok its time to see what this late inclusion to 2007 is all about.
Single Player
The single player part of this game, is one of the many components of this action title that truly is what makes it stand out from the rest of the titles out there. You are thrust into the battle playing the part of a SAS soldier (Sergeant John "Soap" MacTavish), as well as playing the part of a US marine (Sergeant Paul Jackson).
The action is very intense & fought on a number of different fronts. They range from an assault on a stricken Ocean liner, to urban shoot outs with the local Militia. Just the same, the action is fast paced & often intense. Ghillies In The Mist is definitely one of the standout missions in this game, it also gives the player a little an insight to one of the games Characters. Like there last War title COD2, IW has not let us down by throwing in a Veteran setting. To say that this setting is not “uncompromising” would be a huge understatement, However it can be overcome (with a lot of cursing involved).
