You are insubordinate and incompetent so we are throwing you with likeminded and skilled grunts .We are not going to discharge you we are going to make you into the best army fodde….I mean into all you can be. So strap on your helmet, do up your boots and grab your rifle and get ready for the battlefield…….Sprinkles. Psssssttt; who said Rainbow Sprinkles?
So here we are again. EA has released another Battlefield game. EA during the lead up to releasing the game released snippets of in game footage taking the mickey out of other popular games both on the Xbox 360 console and the Playstation 3 console. The games targeted were Rainbow Six Vegas, Metal Gear Solid and Gears of War. This was done to highlight the personality of the soldiers in bad company. They are all worth the watch. Now as we all know battlefield has become one of the most popular first person shooters in the world on PC and is building a legion of fans after its decent attempt at a console version with Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. Bad Company is the first time EA has really had a go at a console based Battlefield first person shooter. I am happy to report that finally EA has pulled off a worthy game…although I do have a few bugs or problems to report, though not major still an inconvenience. These I will go into during their appropriate sections.
The game play is suited well to a console and the controller. EA have finally introduced something I have been praying for someone to pick up on the Xbox 360 controller for an FPS and that is using the left and right bumper bars as the weapon changing buttons instead of the much outdated and overused d-pad. Another smart controller move is when using a land or sea based vehicle the accelerator and brake/reverse have been bound to the left bumper and trigger keys. At first it is a little weird but the more the you play and become accustom to the lay out it works extremely well as it allows you to use the right trigger to shoot. Which is handy considering you will be in control of tanks and light armoured vehicles. The controller is defiantly not my preferred type of tool for FPS and being a large PC gamer I always thought I would prefer the ol keyboard and mouse but once again EA has surprised me and made the controller just as intuitive as the keyboard and mouse. The aiming at times I found has been difficult, especially with the grenade launchers’ attached to the main weapon of the Assualt class. I am not trained to use this weapon so to try and judge the shots takes a while; normally by the time you have been able to judge the distance the enemy is long gone. Overall the controller works well and if you a seasoned FPS player (GRAW, H3, RSV2 and so on) you should have very minimal learning curve and should be able to handle the system well.
